 The family of Avenged Sevenfold drummer Jimmy 'The Rev' Sullivan issued an official statement following his untimely death on December 28.
It reads as follows:
"We would like to thank all of Jimmy’s fans for the heartfelt comments that have been posted – it is comforting to know that his genius and antics were appreciated and that he was loved so much. Our hearts are broken – he was much too young to fall.
“Barbara and Joe, Kelly and Katie and the extended Sullivan family”
As we reported yesterday, the preliminary investigation into Sullivan's death has proved inconclusive and the Orange County coroner’s office has ordered more tests.
| Iron Maiden to hit the studio imminently

 According to American radio DJ Eddie Trunk, Iron Maiden have reportedly penned eight new songs for the follow-up to 2006’s A Matter Of Life And Death and are set to enter the studio in the next few weeks.
"Got a call from Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain last night [and] he told me Maiden are headed into the studio in a couple weeks to start work on a new CD,” said Trunk on his radio programme on New York's Q104 this past Friday (January 1). “He said there was about eight songs written so far so the band would probably need to come up with a few more new songs while recording.”
Trunk also added that Iron Maiden’s new material is “a little different than past albums” and that the band intend to take their time in the studio and the as-yet-untitled record “probably won't come out until 2011." | Avenged Sevenfold drummer: Autopsy “inconclusive”

A preliminary investigation into the untimely death of 28-year-old Avenged Sevenfold drummer James ‘The Rev’ Sullivan has proved inconclusive.
Sullivan was found dead at his home in Huntington Beach, California last Monday (December 28). While the Orange County Sheriff’s department has ruled out foul play, the Orange County coroner’s office said autopsy results were “inconclusive” and has ordered more tests.
It may be several weeks before the exact cause of Sullivan’s death is known.
| Blink 182 announce European dates!

 Blink 182 will play their first European dates since they reunited last February vocalist / bassist Mark Hoppus has confirmed.
"I have been asked to announce that Blink 182 are once again heading back over the pond for a few weeks of touring in Europe during the summer of 2010,” he said in an official statement.
“Exact dates and schedules are going to be released over the next couple of months by the promoters,” he added. “We’re very excited to get back on the road overseas this next year. See you at the shows!"
Two of the band’s confirmed shows include the Area 4 Festival in Oberhausen, Germany on August 21 and the Highfield Festival in Hohenfelden, Germany on August 22.

| Soundgarden reform!

 It's official, grunge legends Soundgarden have reformed!
Lead singer Chris Cornell revealed the news via his Twitter at 5AM (GMT) this morning (Friday, January 1, 2010).
"The 12 year break is over and school is back in session," he Tweeted. "[The] Knights of the Soundtable ride again!"
Other than Cornell's brief statement, the band have not indicated what their plans for the year ahead may be. However insiders predict that a new album could be in the works and that Soundgarden will undoubtedly travel to Europe for the summer festivals.
